It's post number 10 of WatchingYoutube

I know say it every week
But this really is the best way to get to the best videos on YouTube without having to trawl though 40,000 videos of angst ridden teens.
First of all a big apology - I accidentally posted the videotoes.com YouTube HALL OF FAME inductee on this blog. If you want to watch that video and all of the inductees into the YouTube HALL OF FAME then please go to the dedicated website.

So let's get back on track with the latest of what's been happening around with world
IN THE NEWS!!
The big news this week has been the Olympic torch relay. What was meant to be a glorious symbol for international acceptance for the regime in Beijing has turned into an international PR nightmare as the torch has been greeted by people protesting China's human rights abuses and genocide in Tibet. Protestors greeted the torch in London and Paris as well as in San Francisco where the torch was re-routed into a warehouse. More protests are planned for the other international legs of the torch relay.
Meanwhile the Spiritual leader of the Tibetans - the Dalai Lama has been using his yoda like wisdom to call for the protests to be peaceful but also said they had a right to protest.
Back onto the US presidental race that seems to have taken a back seat to the olympic torch. All three of the remaining presidential candidates got a chance to quiz General David Petreaus over how the situation in Iraq is going.
YouTube has been use to show the news but occasionally it can become the news. This disturbing story is about a group of girls who invited a classmate around to a house then proceed to beat her up - for 30 minutes - and filmed the whole incident and put it on YouTube. They claim the victim has made comments about them on the internet (welcome to the new tech world order?) They have since been arrested. The story naturally enough is now on YouTube
HAPPENING STUFF
Time for some more videos from Australian satirist Hugh Atkin - he has done great work on Australian politicans but he has turned his deft satirical hand to the US presidential elections with this classic video all about CHANGE (featuring the David Bowie song)
and here he has a funny video about one person who never changes - Fox News pundit and moron - Bill O'Reilly
Some more great dancing from Planet B-Boy - this time from Korea!!! Who would have thought they have the moves of there but if you want proff that Seoul got soul then here it is
At various points in my life I have been obsessed by the video game tetris (how old school is that!) well here is a brilliant little video by french animator Guillaime Reymond where he uses stop motion animation on real people to re-create the famous game (complete with soundtrack sung by animator) one can watch it for hours!!!
Finally the movie trailer this week is a new film from young Australian born director Craig Gillespie - featuring the screenwriting talents of Nancy Oliver (who was the main writer behind the hit series six feet under) and the great acting skills of Ryan Gosling (who received an oscar nomination for his last big film The Half Nelson) - So here's the trailer for Lars and the Real Girl
THIS SPORTING LIFE
Some great highlights from the Quarter finals of the European Champions League clash between English Giants Liverpool and Arsenal - The Scousers took the prize in a thrilling 4-2 win over the Londoners.
And more great highlights from the NBA's top ten plays of the week
NOSTALGIA
From the archives I thought we'd look at some of of English comedies finer moments (of which there are plenty)
Starting with the brilliant Fawlty Towers
next time we will look at some other great english comedies.
And here is one of my favourite rock clips of all time - that big cross over moment in popular music when rock met rap and the Band Aerosmith teamed with rappers RunDMC to do their classic hit Walk This Way
one of the greats
See you next time
