IN THE NEWS!!!!

The Obama v Clinton battle for the democratic nomination get even hotter as Hilary Clinton uses a new advertisment showing a sleeping child and asking when the phone rings at the whitehouse at 3am how would you trust to answer it. It smacks of the kind of fear mongering that has been part of the Bush administration for the past 8 years. Not to be outdone Barack Obama has counted with an ad challenging the virture of experience with his judgement and track record on the Iraq war. We will know after 'super dooper tuesday' if the ad campaigns have worked.

America is not the only place with elections - as Russians have just gone to the polls in a process that is far less drawn out than than their US counterparts. No suprises that incumbent Vladimir Putin's annointed successor Dmitry Medvedev won the election quite comfortably and promised to keep the country on its current path.

HAPPENING STUFF.

First up in happening stuff I thought we'd take a look at some of the great animation from Italy's Giuseppe Ragazzini
Elisir

Video clip for the song "Sijmadicandhapajiee" by Avion Travel
The Kiss

The music this week comes from filipino american singer/songwriter Chris Cendana who writes original songs - here's a sample of his work.

Velvet Fingertips
When The Lights Burn Out
Cherish

The awesome shadow puppetry of Raymond Crowe is set to the legendary music of Louis Armstrong in What a wonderful World

And here are trailers for new movies this week

We own the night
The Other Boleyn Girl
Semi Pro
which is a great lead in to...

THIS SPORTING LIFE.

In cricket the VB series brings a tense summer of cricket in Australia to a close and it finishes with the two strongest cricket nations on and off the field in a battle for supremecy and the high moral ground. Australia and India fought out the first final with the Indians triumphant courtesy of a marvellous hundred from batsman and demi god (well in India at least) Sachin Tendulkar.

If Tendulkar is the height of cricket then Rpnaldinho is the height of football. Witness these efforts in for Barcelona in their 2 - 4 loss to Atletico Madrid. Ronaldinho's goal is a spectacular effort - not to be missed.

NOSTALGIA.

There are great musicians and then there are those who are legends. Louis Armstrong is one of the legends who changed music forever. Here are some classic performances including Dinah ,When the Saints Go Marching In and What a wonderful world.

Here are some more great opening credit sequences to the shows of my youth
The A-Team
Magnum PI
Murder She Wrote and
Knight Rider

YouTube HALL OF FAME

INDUCTEE #4. Potter Puppet Pals in "The Mysterious Ticking Noise

This 2 minute classic puppet piece of nonsense (and I mean that in the nicest possible way) by Neil Cicierega is equal parts stupidity and genius. Based on the characters from the Harry Potter books it is just ridiculous yet you will watch it over and over again and laugh every time you do. It's had more than 35,000,000 hits and would be the most watched puppet video on YouTube. It's the third most favourited video of all time and a worthy addition to our YouTube HALL OF FAME.

That's it for another installment. Please update your bookmarks and subscriptions and tell all your friends. Till next time - over and out

I think this is a great idea Shan, but beware of making posts too long, keep your eyes on your stats, they are useful.

The puppets were cute, but I didn't have the patience to see it through, but others I feel sure would, you seem to do your homework well. So well done.

Hey!

I think this blog is a really cool idea. There's so much stuff on YouTube that it can be overwhelming; its helpful to be directed to the best bits

Maybe a little bit more stupidity than genius....but in a good way of course.

So what are the all time top two videos in youtube then?
