Watching Youtube - the long awaited Seventh Post
March 30th 2008 12:52
Sorry for the delay as I sort out life in my new job - but Watching Youtube is BACK
Here to dazzle and entertain you with the best bits of YouTube all in the one spot. So let's not muck around and get straight into it
IN THE NEWS.
It should have been the week that Hilary Clinton turned the screws on her opponent Barack Obama but it ended up a complete disaster as her recollections about a visit to Bosnia during her time as first lady proved to e completely false
One really does start to wonder how much this contest is going to damage the democrats heading into the real contest against the republicans.
The other big international story has been the spotlight on the situation in Tibet and the possible derailing of China's role as host of the 2008 Olympic games. China has a dreadful Human rights record and is also playing a role continuing conflicts in Dafur and Myanmar (Burma). China annexed Tibet and took over Tibetan religion life and culture. Now the Tibetans are using the focus on the Olympic Games to show their plight. China is trying to stage manage tour for international journalists to keep international observers happy but this backfired when a group of Buddhist monks approached the journalists and courageously told them of their plight
HAPPENING STUFF!!!!
Dancing seems to have become all the rage (one suspects courtesy of a certain reality television show). Anyway there seems to be a plethora ofnew danc films coming out. Here's a trailer for one called Planet B-Boy
I love a good animation and Claymation Drums is a lot of fun!!!!
THIS SPORTING LIFE!!
Kobe Bryant has spent alot of time in the news for non sports reasons - here's a reminder of why is one of the great basketballers alive today. This is the most sublime pass I have seen!
Scoring an individual triple century in cricket is a unique feat - very few have achieved it. India's Virender Sehwag became only the third player behind Sir Donald Bradman and Brian Lara to achieve it twice in his brutal innings against South Africa
NOSTALGIA.
Todays nostalgia comes from the 1980's and the era of the MegaSoap. King of these was the television show Dallas (soon to be remade into a feature film!?!?!)
Also to jog your memory here is the opening to some other megasoaps
Dynasty
Falcon Crest
Knots Landing
One of my favourite Bands of the 1980's were the New Zealand group Split Enz - The Finn Brothers would find success in other pursuits (notably the band Crowded House) but I don't think they were ever better in this outfit. Here's some of my favourite Split Enz clips
Here are some others
